This image of 47 vTuc is a combine of 12 X 2 minute exposures and 12 X 30 second exposures for the core area. Looking at the background I could do with taking some 3 - 5 minute exposures to make the background star field jump out a bit more.

This was only a test after making some radical changes to the camera settings and getting everything well balanced in software. I need to do some more testing before I can reveal the changes made.

Details:
12 X 2 minute exposures each LRGB
12 X 30 second exposures each LRGB
Calibrated using CCDStack.

Can't wait to see the results mate!

Radical change! Your more game than me! I'm just happy that everything works when I plug it in! haha!

Nice and sharp. The processing though has left a donut hole in the centre - a lasso or something used in the processing taming the core?

Intruiging...... Radical changes.

I have just been bench testing my qhy9 to determine it's gain and offset, using this process
http://www.cool.id.au/astronomy/Neb_tut/Scientifically%20determining%20CCD% 20Gain%20and%20Offset.pdf

I came up with 20 gain and 80 offset, an interesting process, I was aware of the offset but not quite so with determining the gain .... But got it now so set and forget at -20C

Guess we will just have to wait to see what the radical changes are

Didn't realize tuc47 was so blue....

Thanks Mate. Well radical for me anyway.

I noticed that myself Greg. It will need a bit of a rework I think.

Thanks Mark.

Thanks Clive. The big change is what you are up to now. Increasing the gain to 40% and offset to 102 was rather a frightening thing to do after running the camera at 1 and 125 for so long. I must say it will be interesting to see what some long exposures hold with this change.

Mate what happened to the right and left bottom corners??
They are blueish
To me it looks like the gain has gone a wee bit too high:question:

I am inclined to agree with you Marty. This was purely experimental and I will be doing another test of these settings on an easier target with some other settings.

I have included a black and white version and an inverted version of the 120sec stacked image on it's own. This looks much better. Probably my processing skills are a bit rusty or don't exist.

Hi Doug,

A very sharp photo with detail right to the core.

Ross.
