Hi

Does anyone out there have a stellarvue 60 finderscope ?

if so can you tell me the diamter of the OTA ?

I cant tell from the pics if its the same ota as the 50mm version with just a bigger objective lens or if the OTA is also 60mm all way down.

No specs I can find on google.

Thanks

I've got one, but I'm at work, so I can't tell you the exact diameter.

I'm guessing that you are deciding if it will fit in a standard 50mm support.
answer is a resounding NO. Its a fair bit bigger.

Heading on hols tonight but if I get time I'll measure it.

I have both of these Finderscopes.

The main OTA tubes are the same size, only the objective housing of the F60M is different.

In both cases you can remove the diagonal / focuser housing to install the SV finder rings. These are the brightest and best finderscopes on the market. F50M2 (there is a white one too) has a wider FOV so suits fast refractors. The F60M is ideal for SCTs - its also an amazing short tube scope when you use a 19mm Panoptic under dark skies.

Both the above are worth the money. There is also F60 straight through version makes a good guide scope too with helical focuser - but watch out this focuser can drift out of focus easily when the mount slews.

Vic Maris also sells his unique F2DS a "Dark Sky" version of the WO Multi reticle unity finder. This has a larger lens and much dimmer red LED target more suitable for deep sky. I use two of these rigged for the 127 EDT and C11.

BTW if you have flexure issues with the SV ring mountings, I have reverted to ADM rings and V dovetail.

Cheers,

David

Thanks.

Can you confirm the OD of the ota on these finders?

yep, 62-63 and the objective end is 72-73.

I've got the 60mm and the 80mm, theyre both b'dy good top-end-of-the-market finders, but the 60 is better than the 80 because the 80 only just comes to focus (inward) for people with perfect eyes, so the short sighted among us must wear glasses to get infinity.

Thanks all. I will get the 60m3 version. It's primary use will be as a guide scope but will make a nice finder on the rare occasion I actually look through a scope
