View Full Version here: : Earth 2 - TV series
Whilst wandering through JB hIfi today, this DVD series jumped out at me....... Earth 2 ...... Anyone heard of it.
Set in 2192, with an expedition trying to find an Earth like planet ... looks Ok, so fingers crossed. ;)
Also bought 'The Martian Chronicles' with Rock Hudson, based on the Ray Bradury book. :D
They had a specila on, buy 2 TV DVDs and get 1 free - quite a bit of scifi there (BSG, DS9, Enterprise etc). I bought 'Tangle' which I havent heard of before, but is an Aussie drama series.

Earth 2...yes. Very good show. Pity it only went for a season or so.
Yep, I'm going over there this Saturday to get the rest of Stargate SG1 (last four seasons, actually).
Wouldn't mind getting a copy of Earth 2 myself.
And BSG as well.
Best to get in whilst they have the specials running!!!
Good to hear Carl, worried I bought a dud!! I bought mine at the Willows.
Are you able to come on Tuesday night at JCU with Aimees students??
Remember, we need you there for the tricky Qs!!

I'll be able to come, but I may need a lift out and back. The deadly treadly is in a bit of a sorry state and so's the horseless carriage:):):P

Liz, I have been trying to hunt that series down for the last few years. It was GREAT (although memories do have a habit of playing tricks on me!).
I will be bootscooting down to our local JB Hifi to see if I can pick up a copy.
Thanks Rod ... watched the first episode last night and enjoyed it, no. 2 about to happen.
Good luck on the pick up ... we have 2 stores here in town, so hopefully u have acouple to look through. :)

Hi Liz, I finally picked up the Earth 2 series last weekend at JB Hifi at Tuggerah. Have watched about 5 episode. The kids are addicted; another generation of sci-fi lovers is born.
The thought struck me fairly immediately, as I was watching this show, how it is like a precursor to the Survivor series. A lot of the story revolves around the tensions created between a small community of people thrust together by the need to survive against an unfamiliar and at times hostile environment.
I am glad they killed off that Gall character quickly. He was giving me the s***s. Very irritating. I think Danziger is the most realistic character - very much the unsung hero.
Where are you up to in the series?
Great to hear you are enjoying it Rod, and the kids too!!
Am presently holidaying in Portugal, and was pretty busy before I left - I think I have only watched about 5 episodes, but agree, Danziger is a great character.
look forward to seeing more when I get back!!

Hope your holiday was fantastic Liz.
We have just returned from 2 weeks in Byron Bay. Not quite so exotic, but lots of sunshine!
Actually, the main theme for Byron this year was Earth 2. We watched an episode (or 2 in some instances) each day. Fantastic! The kids, even my wife Nina, are all hooked. Lots of in-jokes now about the character Morgan.
Let me know how you get on with the rest of the series.

Update on Earth 2 Series. Our family has now completed watching the entire series. Fantastic! We are all very sad that there was never a second series.
One thing to be aware of: in the edition I have, the programs are slightly out of order towards the end. Disc 7 - the second episode should be watched last (after the solo episode on Disc 8). Unfortunately a big secret is disclosed in this episode, it loses a bit of its punch when it is watched earlier.
Anyway, very much worth watching. Most certainly not the best or the worst sci-fi ever, but very good for 1995.

Yes, it often happens. I have American Gothic DVD's and they do the same with that towards the end.

I too love my sci fi shows!
My partner & I ended up so addicted to new BSG (Battlestar Galactica) due to the 'doco style' camera angles and the realism of events and weaponary. Not to mention trying to get your head around the 'new' cylons!
Might have a look at this Earth2 as I seem to have missed this one, and always in need so some new sci fi escapism, as have seen all SG1 and Star Treks. :)
Cheers
Grant
Have got back into this series affter my holidays and still really enjoying it. Am up to disc 6 of 8 (3 episodes per disc).
I will take note of what you said re the discs Rod, thanks. :)

I watched a few episodes when it first came out back in late 90's. It's a bit weird :/

Glad to hear you made it to the end, Liz!
I have often wondered what could have be done with a second season. The episode towards the end where Yulley as a fully grown adult communicates with his mother was an interesting teaser.
I haven't heard of the other series you are trying.
doh, I dont remember that!
thanks Yugant .... picked it up cheap so thought would give it a go, yes, looks a bit weird, but will see how it goes.
