Hi Guys, as most of you know Alice and I are still enjoying the Top End, and will be here for a bit longer.:thumbsup:

Anyway we decided to photography some of the beautiful water falls this evening, and traveled to Litchfield National Park, (will post the results later)

After setting up the tripod and camera, we decided to wait a while as the light was not right, and have a stroll alone the path leading to the top of the falls.

We turned the corner, and there in front of us was something I have never seen, :scared::scared: a Python catching its dinner and then slowly squeezing it to death and then proceeding to swallow the whole thing.:eyepop:
Alice did the 100 meters in 5 seconds. :lol: in reverse

I didn't have my usual Camera as it was on the tripod, so these were taken with a Canon Ixus.point and shoot, I estimate it to be about 3 meters, + or -

Great catch!

A few years back I filmed a Diamond Python that caught and devoured a Ringtail
Possum here in Mt Kuring-Gai, but this is in a different league! It is amazing how
they manage it.

You'd think twice about rolling out the swag and sleeping in Litchfield for the night. :lol:

Wow. I wonder how long it took the snake to swallow its dinner? I think it's incredible how far they stretch their jaws to swallow big prey.

Jeanette, now that I would have like to do, but when it gets dark in that park, it is black, who knows what might be hiding in the bushes.

And Gary, you may well laugh, but there are actually two young people sleeping at the bottom of the falls tonight, we spoke to them as they too can across this feast, I reckon there dopy, but who am i to say.

That's amazing, what an experience. Nice photos!
The scariest encounter I have had with a wild snake was when bicycling in Arizona and going right past a rattlesnake that was lying on the road. It must have got scared because it leaped up and tried to bite me, but fortunately it missed. I'm not sure how close it really got because I was going fairly fast (probably missed by a long shot) but it sure was an experience.

Your dead right Chris, if I went looking for this sort of natural occurrences, one would never see it, just happened to be in the right spot at the right time, with the trusty pocket camera.
Actually it dose a pretty good job for the size of it.

And for those slide nights as you say, i can see that happening too
