Need to discuss the best nights for this month: the saturday before or after or both? ? ?
Rick Petrie
13-09-2011, 01:28 PM
Would love to do both but I can't make the 24th, dammit.
Sat. the 1st Oct. is only good for me.

The one before is better for us as we aren't working. We could probably do both but won't be out as late on the one after.

Sorry for some ignorant questions, as I have never been to a dark site before. What is the general procedure for Pony club site ?
- is there a time we need to arrive by?
- is the gate to the property locked?
- I assume we have to camp overnight? as we can't leave without turning on the car light and ruin it for everybody
- are we allowed to use personal gas cooker to cook?
From the above replies so far, looks like most people will be going on the 24th... any numbers going on the 1st?
Victor.

Hi Victor,
In regards to time, people normally work it out as it gets a bit closer, that being said its quite common for some of us to get there before sunset.
The gate to the property is locked...and apart from last time, some people have keys to let us in.
We dont camp overnight... we are not overly strict on light use, so there isnt too much of a problem leaving, we just try and be aware of each other and not turn our car lights on till we are facing away from the scopes.
From my experience at the pony club, we are a pretty relaxed bunch, all the members there have been more than accepting and understanding towards peoples needs. if you want to cook on a stove, thats no problem.. as long as you dont need flood lights to see when our steaks are ready ;) ... wait... I did mention that visitors to the pony club usually cook steaks for everyone else right?
It will be good to see you there Victor, Im hoping to make saturday night, although I have to go to the airport at 8:30pm to pick up my girlfriend so I may not be there until pretty late. Im also in for the following week at this stage.

Spoke wit Geoff the other day. Don't think anyone has a key to the new club house as yet so i will bring the generator that we canuse if necessary (until i leave at least)
It is only 1kw so wont drive an oven or kettle but is great for computers and lighting and charging etc (pure sine wave). Just bring a long ext cord if you want access to it.
I will be there this sat night, as early as possible about 4ish but will wait till a key arrives ( no choice in that one) to get in the gate.
Catch ya all then, after that Lostock here we come in October:lol:

The weather forecast is not looking too promising for tomorrow.
If the weatherman is wrong, I will will be keen for some PC action.
Anyone know the opposite of a rain dance?

I agree with you Geoff. I don't think any of the weekend will be OK.
Tonight is our only opportunity and I think rather than hike all the way up to the PC and maybe disappointed, I might set up here at home and view where it is a little protected.
If you want to come around here or anyone else, feel free to lob.
We may not have any other chance now before Lostock. Any takers?:)

I was just looking at the skies myself, with the thought of climbing the mountain tonight if anyone else was keen.
... But now I see clouds rolling in.
Might be on a journey to Avoca tonight.
