Hi,
Having trouble with Exoplanet, been in touch with the developer and there is nothing more that can do to help.
I find that when I download the update, the database remains at 515 planets found although there is 599 so far. I see the file being downloaded then says unzipping but nothing updates.
I have completely removed the application entirely but no go.
One really peculiar problem is the program shows version 5.5 (correct version) but the file being downloaded and store says 5.4. Not sure if this is an updating problem. Can someone check this for me please.
Hanno suggests a problem with the iPhone but not sure how to dig in to fix this. I really miss the program.
Any suggestions?

Malcolm,
I just did the download and it now reports 599 exoplanets. I haven't counted them :)
How full is your iPhone? Although probably not very big, you would need space for the zip file as well as the unzipped file plus maybe a bit more to complete the database update.

Thanks Michael,
Have plenty of room available. Can you check your drive on the PC you connect the iPhone and see if the file on the computer is 5.5 or 5.4 please?
The iPhone app will say 5.5 but I think the file on the computer is still 5.4 which is the case for me. Just need to confirm this.

I did a download just this minute and it looks like it's updated to 648.
What you could try is deleting the app from both your iphone and itunes and hard power off/on (reboot) your phone and restart itunes. You should then be able to re-download the app to itunes. Resync your iphone and see if that works.

Thanks Michael, sounds like an administrative/programming error by Hanno.
Simon, Unfortunately still won't unpack and is staying at 515. I have already deleted the app, I even reset my iPhone and did all manner of mostly unspeakable things to the phone but I think am going to need to contact Apple on this one.
Thanks all for trying.

Very strange, I contacted Apple support and I managed to connect my iPhone to the WiFi at home, I am not sure what happened but it now works and I have all 680 planets.
Thinking a bit maybe the database is downloaded using a different port and maybe Telstra block this port. Highly unlikely but I don't care now it is working

If it was more than a 20Mb sized chunk of data - yes, it will be restricted over Telstra 3G - as a safety feature designed to prevent people from getting $1,000 phone bills for excess data. I guess that satellite and ephemeris data is downloaded as a stream, so it doesn't have a definitive file size to work with up front which would tell it to go or not - meaning that it could cut it off at the 20Mb mark midstream as you hit the 3G limit.
