Hello all...

Here's a variety of stuff done recently with the Astro 40D running at approx -20ºC on each image.

All images taken with the Canon 400mm f5.6L lens and Astronomik 12nm Ha and OIII EOS clip in filters.

3hrs+ worth of data collection for both the Ha and OIII images.

Hi Doug,

An excellent collection.

I really like the monochrome Lagoon.

Thanks.

Ross.

Yes, the detail in the mono images is very nice!

How are you doing the colour? Are you using Ha as red, OIII as blue and blending Ha and OIII to synthesise green?

Cheers,
Rick.

Thanks Ross and Rick - I prefer the Ha images too. In fact the Synthetic RGBs didn't turn out as impressively as I had hoped/planned...c'est la vie!
I also had a few tracking issues with this set as I was trying to push exposures of 20mins for each exposure resulting in me using data which I might normally haven't!

RGB's were mapped as either R:Ha, G:OIII blue channel, B: OIII green channel (M8 and M16 images) or R:Ha, G:OIII green ch, B:OIII blue+20% Ha (IC4628 image)

I think I'll go back to blending small amounts of NB data with a straight RGB image and using Ha as a Lum layer in future.

Cheers
Doug

Thanks for the info, Doug. I'm working on a bi-colour version of NGC 346 and will probably try a variety of colour mappings...

Very nice collection Doug. Great to see the Mono images and then the Composites. I have had some fun with NB mapped as RGB. It always seems to provide great detail and very vibrant colours.
Nice work.

Hi Doug, nice images and detail, although I don't think as successful as some of your previous Ha RGB images. These seemed to have more detail and depth. Craig
