I assume telescope lenses last a really long time.

Ha it figures ... That's a crazy price though eh... Either there is something a little NQR about that scope, or its a reflection of how tough things are in the US right now... Prices are way down for heaps of astro gear... I guess this little hobby of ours is very much discretionary.

You have to put this in perspective, the scope that sold for $5500 USD was an 2003 EDFS where as what is on offer here is a 1986 scope with inferior glass (pre ED and fluorite but good for it's time though) and whilst users reported rich wide field views it couldn't handle to much of a push for power/magnification. $2495 is a reasonable price for its reported condition and it will sell.

Should that not be 1996 Hans? The first 130EDTs were built in late 1991, and it was not until a few years later that the F6 version came out. Both types were ED glass.

Roland Christen made his first 130 f/6 in the mid 80's using a unique batch of KZ Flint Glass he acquired from NASA...he also made a 5" f/12 and a 6" f/9 line from the same stock of glass...all this before the advent of ED glass.

I have had US sellers often say only selling within the US. Often they are not very experienced with overseas and confuse importing and all the paperwork with sending it overseas which is the same as sending it to another State virtually. Perhaps a bit more data on the form.

Usually I tell them I have done this many times, I can even have FEDEX pick it up from them and you fill out one form and it arrives at my place at my door a week later. Same as sending it to the other side of the USA for them - no difference.

They usually say OK.

I get worried when I see high value items like that comming from sellers with no selling history though. Been a few camera's of late from Poland etc... with no history... Would be a case of pay and pray I reckon :D

A phone call to the seller would be the minimum plus extra photos that you ask to be taken rather than potentially copies from someone else's postings.

A 13 yr old 155 with 2.7 inch focuser is not that appealling.

4 inch focuser, later models seem to go for around $9500 often with the flattener (which is worth US$2000 by itself).
