Hello,

Another photo from my last trip to Coonabarabran.

This is my first attempt at imaging the Dark Doodad in Musca.

What do you think?

Thanks for looking.

Ross.

Well done, Ross.

This isn't an easy object to process as I found out myself. I can also see the line on the right-hand side of your image which I also found in my own image. It's almost like a perfectly straight line where the Milky Way gets brighter.

I would perhaps lower the opacity of the lighten layer mode (if that's what you've done here) as it seems to give the stars a strange look.

What were your exposure details?

That is definitely a Doodad if ever I saw one. Well processed, it looks like a skid mark.

Another nice piece of work, looks like you want to be a dust buster too.

It stands out well from the background.

Hi Louie,

Thank you.
Your approval means a lot.

Ross.

Hi Greg,

It was a difficult one to process.
It's great that you like it.

Thank you.

Ross.

Thanks Jeanette,

I'm glad you like it.

Ross.

Thanks Humayun,

This photo consists of 10 x 10min subs at -20c.
It was a difficult object to process. I have just recently started learning Photoshop and I tried everything on it until it looked ok (..don't ask me to repeat it!..).
Also, I had problems when I tried to reduce it to 200kb for IIS. It was full of artefacts so I had to re-try it a few times. This is the first time I have had this problem. I suspect it's the latge number of stars in the photo.

Ross.

Thanks Clive,

I'm happy you like it.
Yes, this Coonabarabran trip has produced me a lot of "dusty" shots. They are a challenge to process with my limited Photoshop skills.

Ross.

Hi Paul,

Yes, the Photoshop learning is finally starting to come together.
I'm glad you like it.

Thanks.

Ross.

Hi Darren,

Thanks. Glad you like it.

Ross.

Hi Marco,

Thanks for the good comments.
No, I don't have a web page.
However, for the first time, I had problems reducing this photo to the 200kb limit for IIS. There were so many artefacts!
I think I might have to consider a web page for the future.

Coonabarabran is such a great location.

Ross,

Hi Steve,

Hi Doug,

Thank you.

I'm glad you like the photo. It is such an encouragement.
Yes, Coonabarabran has really earned its keep this time.
I think I produces more photos in 4 days than in the last 2 years!

Ross.

Hi Robin,
