Hello,

Still slowly processing my shots from the last trip to Coonabarabran.

This is my first attempt at imaging the Corona Australis Nebula.

What do you think?

Thanks for looking.

The dark dust has been developed very well filling half the image and reflection nebs are smooth with wavey structure.

That's a great image! quite spectacular. I like the balance of contrast and saturation. The dust stands out from the stars nicely and the stars aren't too strong. A very attractive image, congrats

Very nice Ross. What length exposures did you take and how many?

Very nice Ross. All looks good. Star colour and dust colour are spot on.

Great area to image but can be a bit of a fiddle to get a good contrast level to show everything up well.

Wow Ross, that is a beautiful rendition of this favorite. Not as deep as some but it looks very real and believable and the processing is invisible, the dark skies really help here, love it

Thank you Mike.

I'm glad you like it and thanks for the encouraging comments.

I did a few different versions in Photoshop and wasn't really sure which was the best one. Your comments give me confidence that I'm on the right track.

Nice work,

Dusty areas are challenging, emissions glow and reflection nebs can be quite bright at times.... But this is the tuff stuff, and you've done well. There's a temptation to push it to the max but you often get noise which can be hard to control and make it believable. This is exceptionally clean and natural yet shows all the relevant bits.

There is a teeny weeny little bit of Ha on the inside of the reflective loop, I cant see it at this resolution, but I'm sure if you look at the full size image you will find it.

Good stuff.

Thanks Marc, thanks Clive.

I was surprised at how much dust came out. There was a lot more but I "toned" it down not wanting to overdo the processing.

I will have a search of the full resolution photo for the Ha bits.

Thank you.

Such a lovely object. I wish I could have another go at it. Alas, I'm too far north.

Well done!

Thanks Tom,

Yes, we do have some nice objects down here. However, I would love to be where you are to photograph The Andromeda Galaxy.
