I see you Aussies have employed us Kiwi's to promote your country!
Just saw the ad, and it's got me sold ;)!
Might have to review your profanity list Mike... It seems the word ****** (as in bl**dy hell) is now acceptable casual language... :poke:

Not likely, there's high level talk of NZ using the Aussi dollar, the next logical step would be for you to be come our 7th state (or third territory).

Half your population is in Sydney already anyway. :)

Just got back from South Africa this weekend and the add has been slagged off heavy by the media in South Africa, UK, America and Europe, as a cheap and crude attempt to get exposure.

My son is not allowed to use such language at home or at school, yet the powers that be think this sort of toilet humor talk, will encourage many wealthy and $$$ tourist to this great country???

More like it will attract the Euro-trash and southern Hill-Billy's from the USA:doh:

Were where their minds when they dream up that slogan and poor website!!! look at Spain, over 6million tourist come through as repeat visitors and another 10 million go through as year as one off's... do you see them advertizing like this????

****** advertising! ;)

No number comparison really - Spain is part of continental Europe and easily accessed by 100's of millions. It can also be part of an itinery. Oz stands alone and is expensive - time consuming to get to. The word ****** is to some possibly distasteful but I know nobody that considers it a swear word in the sense of profanity.

It certainly is a unique approach and as they say ANY pub licity is good publicity! (Anybody that won't visit because they may hear the word ****** whilst down under should probably stay at home anyway :) )

@Ziggy Stardust. I change the channel or turn the tv off when it comes on.

Dribbling out their ears.

Bah!! Pathethic.

I'll curse and swear with the best of them and often do but that ad sounds like it was thought up by fifteen year olds.

lucky it didn't cost too much to get work experience kids working on this project......................whats that dear, how much did they pay for this..................you're joking.........

Well - yeah. If somebody is so sensitive to be upset by the word they are probably best isolated from the real world - that expletive happens in all languages. Better to stay at home and for goodness sake don't view TV or listen to radio (especially parliament :) )

As for the ads working - they are getting attention, which is the whole idea. But I do think Oz could have been portrayed differently.

FWIW & IMHO, It wan't that long ago that the word "HELL" was considered as a swear word. Lots of children got chastized for using it....I know, I did......:poke:.....:D L.

Must admit I cringed when I saw a sample of the ad {yet to see it fully } hate hearing women {even bikini clad ones}and kids swear... got taught a good lesson when i was 11 when a nun at my school caught me uttering mongrel , got tagged by the earhole and taken to the closest basin and threated with eating a bar of soap and then taken to the office to recive 5 cane cuts across the palm ... lesson learnt
