Well done Rick,
You have put a lot of effort into that review and also to the modifications on that wonderful scope.
The views I have had through your Orion 14 incher are nothing short of amazing.:eyepop:
Look after that scope, and it will give you a lot in return for many years to come.

Geoffro.

Good review. If I ever got a another scope, this is the type I would consider... they just need to make a 16" version... :)

Thanks Geoffro. Yep we sure have had some great views through the beast. Looking forward to some Spring and Summer objects.

Thanks Grant. A 16" would be even nicer wouldn't it. Mmmmm!:P

This post was a major decider in buying the goto version; the xx14g. Broken down it fits into my small car and people are amazed when it all comes out of my Subaru Impreza. Goto is easy and accurate. I Blew a lot of my budget on 10mm and 21mm Televise ethos eyepieces with UHC filters and optically it is brilliant. I have just had the opportunity to do lengthy comparison with 18" scopes and none of us could tell the difference. I fitted three computer fans as the back is pre drilled for this. The low profile mirror cools quickly. Extra weights were required for the heavy eyepieces. I also added a Telrad but once aligned and the use of the pointing accuracy enhancement i rarely need it.
The kit was all bought from Bintel, who were excellent.
The carry bags are essential if you want to look after your scope. Don't know why they don't make them for the mount as well as the scope.
Want a big scope but have a small car, then this is for you.
If I had my choice again I would buy the same.

Great reviews. I have the XT8i Intelliscope and am not looking for a new scope right now but the XX14i is my current target for that next scope.
