Hi all,
I was out having a look at Jupiter last night and decided i'd have a go at imaging it. Previous attempts crashed and burned, but i followed Mike's Astrophotography with a Dob (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/../63-201-0-0-1-0.html) article tried again.
Turns out, i had the gain/exposure set too high on previous attempts.
Processing was something like this:
20-something second AVI of the main planet.
Fed AVI into VirtualDub to produce 920-odd frames,
Centred all the frames in ppmcentre, (tricky to figure out, but produced great results once done).
Align, stack and touch-up in Registax.
Combined the stacked pic in Photoshop with a frame from an over-exposed vid which showed the moons nicely.
Theres not a lot of detail in the planet, maybe my focus was a bit off, or maybe my camera is crap, but regardless, im pretty chuffed at the result.
Used 12" GSO Dob, and 1.3Mp Webcam (simillar to Orion StarShoot Solar System Colour Imager IV).
Comments and suggestions greatly welcome.
