M24 Region

Hi Guys

Ok,so last weekend saw round 2 for the new ML8300 and as always with me, there is still mechanical issues to sought out.

It's such a rich field and those star colours! I like it! I'm really struggling with my stars - they're turning out to look like someone just hit my image with paint flicks.

This worked out very well Louie!
I think the Baby Q and the K8300 chip are a good match.
Colours look nicely saturated and gives you a good deal of real estate!

Ah, there's always something with new gear to sort out mate...
4 min subs (my old mark) getting flexure ??

Still, with the overall coverage of this combo, even 4 min subs will yield some very good results as this shows!

Hey thanks Rich! yeah mount issues...totally stripped the GPDX down and cleaned and re greased every all worms and found the source of backlash from the dec! should have It purring next round!hehe.

The BabyQ,that's another story cause I believe at this time the source of tilt I'm seeing is more than likely coming from the focuser draw tube not being square.....that's going to be more difficult without any way to adjust It! at this point I feel like shoving It back up the manufactures you know what! honestly,companies should stop selling expensive paper weights!

That's a beautiful image Louie, the variety of colours especially. Did you find the move from one shot colour of your Starlight Xpress camera to LRGB processing to be a difficult one? The processing in this looks so accomplished.

Well,actually Graeme I've done quite a bit of LRGB and Ha work with other people data,so got some practice in.

The transition to mono cams? not hard(I did start off with a ST7)but the pre and post processing is more time consuming.

A sensational image Louie. Such a beautiful range of subtle colours. Your image has them all. That swathe of beautiful stars on the right with the delicate Ha nebula mixed in with it plus the lovely golden stars up top really make a great scene.

The slight elongation in the corners is not distracting and I know we aim for perfection with our gear but really I would not fixate on it as it is really is a minor issue.

I think most scopes with a fast reducer and relatively wide field are likely to have issues.

I was wondering how the 8300 would go with fast refractors as theory would have it being a top match. Your images are proof of that - its a great match and creates a very pleasant image scale at high resolution.

The ML8300 is a dream camera though right?
