M17 Swan & Friends

I've been on holidays for the last 4 weeks and whilst that should have been a good thing the weather wasn't the best. Still the last few days have been great and I have been able to get out and take some pics at last. I have been changing my setup and have neot been able to get a decent pic with my QHY10 but finally last night things came together and I am pleased with the result.

M17 Swan Nebula
C9.25 0.63 FR MaximDL Guided. Flats no darks 26 X 240 secs (i took 42 but the program won't let me stack them all!) DSS CS4.

I also got some wide field shots with My ED80 and Canon 1000D

NGC2070 Tarantula
ED80 MaximDL Guided 22 X 300 secs ISO400 DSS flats, Darks & Bias, CS4

NGC2024 Flame and Barnard33 Horsehead
ED80 MaximDL Guided 22 X 300 secs ISO800 DSS flats, Darks & Bias, CS4
I don't like the grain that comes with ISO800 I don't think i'll go there again.

Horsehead looks nice. ISO800 is starting to get into the grainy area which seems to show in this. Your framing looks good Paul.

Very nice photos Paul.

I like your Horsehead despite the grain.

I have also imaged the Horsehead with a modded 1000d and have found the noise improves a lot as the temperature drops to under 5c.

Thanks Ross Temp was sitting at 14-16 degrees ( I've seen it up at 30+ in summer!) hence my getting the QHY. I'm getting into taking pics with it but it's still good to shoot off a few DSLR pics. I will definately be trying this target again over summer. I've just pulled the trigger on a GSO 10" RC so I'm looking forward to seeing what that will do.
