We obviously has some fast high level westerly winds today. Patchy clouds scudded through occasionally to spoil maybe not quite 50% of captures. I persevered for a while but in the end it got the better of me:rolleyes:.

There were some great proms - one a nice big loop from face to past the limb!

Image quality is a bit down on what I hoped I would achieve. I think the high wind adversely affected the seeing.

Still good to have a record. I got a phone call from a mate late afternoon and he suggested I check it out. Too much high cloud for my taste. With any luck we will see more large prominences in the next year now.

Thanks Paul and Derek. Yep. Massive is one word that fits these proms!;)

Here's a couple more... and a couple more one the way...;) I think this disc is a better shot than the first one. This one was captured after IC Capture fell over (I think because the 'puter started downloading some updates, or something silly like that), so the scope may have had a bit more time to reach thermal equilibrium... focus/seeing certainly seemed sharper at the time, and I think that's reflected in the image.

Here's a couple of prom shots. The video of the nice big loop near AR11271 that crossed the limb was affected by cloud, so it was difficult to get a brightness balance between alignment points, so I had to do an extraordinary levels adjustment to make it look acceptable. I don't think I lost much data in the prom. I'm a bit disappointed with the sharpness, but I guess realistically its not too bad for a 40mm aperture scope at high power and suspect seeing.
