Hi All, found there was one AVI from the good run I had on Feb 18 that I hadn't yet processed. Looks to be one of the better ones. Instead of just adding to the sequences I already had thought I try pushing this one a bit further to see what detail I could milk from it. This comes at the expense of increased grain, but in this case is deliberate.

One of left is medium wavelets out of registax and then SOft Sharpen in Photopaint, on the right has been pushed again with an unsharp mask in Pixel Studio 2.0.

There's certainly a lot of detail in those bands... hmmm sometimes I like soft and subtle and sometimes sharp and contrasty :confuse3:

cheers,

:) Top work again like both of them but prefer the left

Both really nice Rob.

That's the benefit of great data. You can go the softer, more natural look and still have plenty of detail. Or you can crank the wavelets and still not introduce grain to the point of it being detracting.

Your colour is also very good.

Hi Robert

Wow - that is an excellent and highly detailed Jupiter. There is so much to see and you have managed to show it all so well. Great processing and I like both for what each one delivers.

One to show the kids eh..

Cheers

Dennis

Really really nice Robert! I'd love to have a go at that avi too, if you wouldn't mind uploading it somewhere (or sending me a CD?)

Very detailed.. I'd probably prefer an in-between of both of those images.. the left is a little too soft, the right too sharp :)

Congrats on a winner.

Hi All, since the consensus is for "in between" I had a go of producing something in the middle there. The attached is the same two images at bottom with the new version on top and in between.

cheers,
