We are lucky to have a large country garden, the bird life is varied.
Behind my observatory are some small banksia bushes, every afternoon the wrens sit and feed below them,I have been able to get close with 400 L and take some images,This one is almost to cute for words.
Taken at 4 pm at 1/160 AV mode F 8 iso 400.Distance 4.2 m.Thought it may be of interest.

Married bliss! A beautiful photo Chris, it just doesn’t get any better than that. Lovely catch light in the eye, spot on focus with superb clarity.

One of the best wildlife shots posted on this forum to date.
Biologically - wonderful dimorphism in an evolutionary celebration of vive la différence.
Tactically - if you were young and single, this would be the one to pull out of the photography portfolio to impress that first date.
A beautiful photograph.

Forget words Baz-just get that Bankcard out and get the 100-400 or 400 prime,Canon.I think you mentioned you do some wedding shots, the 100-400 should have a bit of application there,it quite a good range of focal lengths,I chose the 400 prime,as I knew I would be at 400 all the time, and its much lighter and easier to use in the bush.
You,will soon forget the cost, quickly when you start getting shots like this.
Thanks everyone for your feed back,I might get a few 8 by 10 prints and card up and put in our giftware shop,my son does a lot of smaller images and sells them quite well to visitors.
Cheers Chris
