I took this one last night.
3 minute subexposures and a total of 1 hour and 36 minutes.
This comet is moving quite fast.
Planewave CDK17 at F4.45, Proline 16803, Paramount ME.
Taken at my home observatory in Kurrajong NSW.

Quite nice, the trail stands out well from the background, I did it a few nights back and it didn't quite stand out so well. I also noticed it zipped along quite quickly

Cheers Andrew.
I was surprised to see the tail that long.
I was pleasantly surprised at the detail it had.
Thanks Liz. I had to work out how to process an object where there are 2 motions -the stars move and the comet moves differently to the stars.
Tricky.
Cheers Paul. I hope you are right.:thanx:

Well you certainly have put up some wonderful images thats for sure.
Yes I think so too Mike. I was quite excited about it. Elenin is too low in the west for me to image from my location (a big mountain in the road in that direction). Maybe later when it comes up early in the morning.
Perhaps I'll get that brown dwarf star with it too:lol:

A beautiful photo Greg.
How did you get the comet and the stars so sharp?
Thanks.

Thanks Anthony. I am imaging it again tonight near M71.
It does not appear to be quite as bright as the other night.
Thanks Ross.
2 separate images layered.

Greg, great image that I'm really impressed by.
And as above how did you process the two different moving objects for the image?

Greg, that result is spectacular. Pity it can't be seen like that in the eyepiece!

2 images processed separately, one for the stars one for the comet.
Thanks Chris. By later tonight I should have a total of over 7 hours worth.

Awesome sharpness, color, fov etc etc Greg,
Just a picture perfect!
Just wondering if you would have it in your time to do an article/tutorial on how you went about processing the images?
As you have said before, tricky trying to get the stars and comet movement to sync.
I understand you have +1 equipment and spent many an hour capturing, but i have seen many a comet hunter on these forums and they could benefit ( me included when I get some nights of work).
Cheers
Bartman
Congrats on IOTW Greg, well deserved indeed !

Thanks a million Mike. I appreciate it. Wow, that's great.
Thanks Steve. I've missed a few comets over the years and I thought no not this one.
Cheers Louie.
Thanks Darren. I was happy with how it turned out.
Thank you very much.
Sure. I have another one to process which is something like 6-7 hours of data with M71. There are a few ways to skin the cat so to speak and once I've done that one I'll writeup how I got there.
Cheers Andrew.

Hi Greg,
Just got back from a week away with no internet.
Congratulations on IOTW.
An excellent photo. Brilliantly captured and processed.
I think this photo will win you a lot more awards.
Good luck.
Thanks.
Ross.
