I took this one a little while ago. I reprocessed it from the colour combine on up in order to get that golden baackground.
TEC180 and Microline 8300 (the small pixels match with the APO quite well).

That's a nice close-up indeed. And great star colours as well!

Thanks Rod. I appreciate it.

Looking at it now the star colours look fine but I had the idea they were supposed to be more golden. I think these are the correct colours.

Very nice work Greg, but I was under the impression that they should be more golden.
On my monitor there seems to be a slight blue colour cast.

You're right Andrew. I worked with the data again and it really wanted to look bluish. So I went back to the original data and did a fresh colour combine and the colours looked a lot better. I then processed it again and yes the golden background was there.

Thanks for that. It was one of those troublesome images. CCDstack I find can give unreliable colour combines. I'll have to start looking at other programs for that.

Thanks Houghy the repro got the gold and I am happy about that now.

I think you nailed it this time Greg. That's definitely the way it should look. I guess getting the colour right can be a bit of a lottery when you have fairly short exposures.

Cheers

Thanks Steve. I occassionally find CCDstack gives me an odd colour combine. I keeps you on your toes. What colour combine software are you using?

Basically anything that's gives me a decent looking result: Maxim, CCDStack and quite often I just do the combines directly within photoshop.

Thanks Ross.

I am planning to do several images with my refractors and the 8300 chip. I want to see how well the small pixels work with some of my refractors. I have used it a lot on the TEC180 but not the other 2 fast refractors I have.

I think it will be a good match and the 8300 chipped camera will really show its best capabilities.
