Andromeda

I grew up reading a lot of sci-fi of this galaxy but never had a chance to image to image it myself. From Melbourne it's quite low, and from my observatory we are talking about as low as where you can see my neighbor's roof in the image. Image of the week by Ross was just too tempting so weather being good I spent half an hour last night on this.

Guiding was mad so I didn't bother guiding because i have no i idea what i would be chasing while imaging this low and close to the roof!

Upper left corner had some sort of obstruction in the image either from roof or dead tree branch. This is not a quality image but let me say i have I enjoyed the end result very much. Taking my portable G11mount somewhere high might be a good idea.

I am amazed you get to see it at all from Melbourne - nice work

It is also my next project for my FS-60 with its new reducer - should give me a great FOV to frame it nicely. Its huge!

Nice one Sadia, like you I wish it was a lot higher in the sky but then again we would want to image something else down low.

Yes great image especially from your location.
Being just Lum data conjers up the memory of those early b/w images in astro books & encyclopedias we used to read.

Thank you guys. Melborune had some excellent weather for last few days. The time I spent under the sky last couple of nights will easily exceed rest of the time sofar this year. I just hope it continues to be like this more frequently.

Despite the branch which runs down the entire left side, this is quite a nice image. Heaps of detail and the stars are nice and round. You must have had the PA near perfect. Nicely done. Colour??

Thank you Paul. I think whatever PA was there is lost in image resizing and the seeing. Average FWHM was 8+ arc sec from the subs! I will have to take few RGB next time I get a chance for sure.
