Getting loud klunk klunk from the Dec worm area when auto guiding, Especially when scope in vertically position. Scope balance excellent. Before I start dismantling the Dec axis I decided to undo the two black worm end-caps and found shaft and bearing end slop of 3 mm.. Also on the RA. The black end-caps prevents that slop.
Grub screws lose on the worm/motor gear?

I'd just be guessing at the problem Ken but here's a strip down guide (http://www.astro-baby.com/EQ6%20rebuild%20guide/EQ6%20Strip%20Down%20Home.htm) if you haven't already found it, so you can see what's inside.

I know what is inside Robin. I have the guide that you mentioned.
I am merely sharing information with other members about my project of taking the mount apart, and shoving what is lacking in an near new, and hardly used, EQ6 Pro mount.
Thanking you

The klunk klunk problem has been solved without having to take apart the dec axis.
I missed the picture in the EQ6/Atlas manual showing the final adjustment to the worm end float. Simply by removing the black end-cap, one can turn the slotted nut, thereby eliminating the slop that in my case was causing elongated star trails in my images.
Now finally, piece of mind.
