Reading the chatter about solar image processing on ISS, I decided to re-pro some data to emphasize limb darkening and fine scale structures.
Here is the link (http://www.atscope.com.au/BRO/gallery115.html) to an HD version.
I'm no so sure.. is it any good?

Looks like a sphere Peter. I really like that prominence at the 5 o'clock position.

Looks super, Peter! Nice and spherical. The proms are pretty spectacular. What size of frame stack did you assembly for this one? Looks like a surface set and a prom set.
Keep the images coming.

I prefer the way Paul gets his sun to look like a sphere and how his prominences loop around onto the front face of the sun and don't just hug the edge in 2D, I also like the way he has no pink edge, it just looks more like I recon the sun should look...
That said, there is no doubt your image still looks good.

I have mixed feelings about the image.
Image Viewing # 1:
Feeling - Total Jealousy, followed promptly by awe, admiration, then back to jealousy again :)
On Second viewing, I really love the image, am torn though as to wether I like the Red proms or would prefer them in orange/yellow. They are certainly easier to see in red, it really highlights them, but it also makes the image obviously false colour.
So, if I was going to study the image from an interest point of view, I'd leave the proms red, if I was going to mount the picture on the wall, I'd do them in yellowy orange.
All in all, it looks amazing, thanks for sharing it.
Does anyone have any links to Paul's 'spherical' looking images? I'd like to see that effect too.

Just take a look at the images of 14 August and 1 August in the solar system forum list.

Well, I did ask....but being dealer's choice I still like the pink proms...
Thanks
Thanks, yes it is a beaut..I think they are called tree-proms...buggered if I know why :D
Usual run is 450 frames, and 11-12 field mosaic (depending on the overlap) x2
Thanks Paul....Ah... but is it a sphere? How do we know it's not a big circular disk ? :)
