Just fiddling with some data (something new for me :P) and the faint extensions are a little more obvious in high contrast negative (http://www.pbase.com/strongmanmike2002/image/137269541/original).

Details under the image

That's impressive Mike! Lots of stuff you don't normally see.

Cheers

That really brings out the depth of the faint extension of the Helix. Thanks for the view Mike. 10/10

12" of scope is bound to give you that nice deep extension. Nice work Mike.

Looks like a big blog of dust mote in the middle. Or an inkblot psychological test ;)

Beautiful image Mike.

Hey cheers guys, it is a rather extensive object when you dig deep.

The most amazing thing about this result for me is that it was captured with just 2hrs of exposure time in 5min subs from light polluted Newcastle...we live in good times for imaging

It would be good to do a really deep Lum (ala my Cen A) from a perfect dark sky with this scope, now that would be interesting, I am sure there are many background galaxies.

Yes 300s subs through a narrowband filter...what more can one say really. Very impressive. I'd like to see what it can do under dark skies with some basic RGB work. Not sure how you would top your Cent A image. Wouldn't need a three night effort. Probably after the first night with this set up you would be at a point of diminishing returns in depth. Of course I wouldn't be stuffing around to 300s luminance subs darn it. Go long and let those pixel wells bleed.

Don't let all that light capturing power go to your head Mike....oopps too late. :D

I have aperture feaver already that's for sure :eyepop: I think I and the NJP could handle a 16" F3.8...?

This image was bin 1X1 too :D
