You'd have to be a " brick short of a load " to try and sell your scope with this story .... but .... someone wants it.
Unbelievable. . . .!!!!

LOL, this may be the only way of making a crappy scope like this look interesting :D
Cheers

:rofl:You have to be kidding, hang on, BRB, still laughing. This guy is brilliant, I love it, and seriously the only astronomer that hasnt swung his/her scope to matters terestrial must surely only own a large dob. I would hire this guy in a heartbeat as a salesman, honesty, detail, credability, creative, I'll stop before I say integrity though. I cant believe he didnt say it has been used to view a moon or two.
Thanks for bringing this one to my attention, brightened my day.
Oh, I think he is asking too much though.
Cheers, Dennis.

Hi
I would most certainly expect that there are more people buying telescopes to spy on neighbours etc., than for astronomical reasons.
He just wants to reach a large market with a cheap telescope that would not be much good for astronomy in any case.

The scope has had some hyperenergetic photons through its lensworks by the description - hence it can't stand up on its three legs - textbook case of lenticular exhaustion with eyepiece steaming complications. At least he didn't barlow it .....:astron:

It's worth bidding on, if only for the description. :P

Yea pretty sad really, the poor person buying it probably is not well educated in scopes and really believes the ranting of this idiot.
I feel sorry for the buyer actually, who will be very disappointed.

Surely that depends on the neighbours? :P I believe I'd be disappointed perving at my neighbours even with an AP.
David I meant the buyer would be disappointed with the scope as a tool for observing, not really about the neighbors.
I think if you were using this scope to perv on the neighbors, you in yourself would be a disappointment

I agree Leon. It is sad to think someone will buy it because of the blurb. :(

Heck!
I DO spy on the neighbours!
Well.
Not so much spy as 'check-out' now and then.
Most own guns and all drink, so it pays to be on top of things.
That's probably necessary at times, ;) but your not checking which one drops their dacks first, are you.

Yes,that's for sure.Be the first time there has been a link to such a scope of this calibre on IIS,We have all gone to read and have a good laugh,as many other people have-but without the interesting text, would have as many people looked??-The seller might not be as stupid as we think-clever marketing, and what a chuckle!!!

Thanks you Chris - yes, precisely. You've got to find his campaign story as nothing more than a bit of good old-fashioned fun. The guy's having a laugh with the rest of us as he types - you can picture it. :) Of course the scope is junk - he knows it, and he knows that you know it.
Besides - the bid is up to $60 now... :)

It all gets down to my first post.
A good marketing ploy to sell a bit of junk.
A little bit off topic but the first telescope I made when at school 60 years ago was about that size and after I looked at jupiters moons I never used it for astronomy again. It was great for looking at the "sights" around the neighbour hood during the rest of its life.
