Hello everyone.
im looking at getting a guide scope and camera for the neq6. do i have to buy one of the cameras specifically for astronomy or can i use a webcam? i have the celestron planetary ccd camera as well is that useable or do i really need to get one built for it?

I use a QHY5 guide camera directly connected to the NEQ6pro mount and PHD (with Al's reticule) to guide my C9.25 and spectroscope.
Works 100%

It needs to be able to see the stars and be on the phd list of useable guiders.
A CMOS webcam is not usually sensitive enough for guiding

Not sure but I'm going to try a 'modded' Logitech webcam and PHD using the generic wdm (?) setting. Pulled the board out of the body and removed the UV filter cover. Seems quite sensitive but haven't had a chance to test it yet, weather has not been very cooperative.

I'll be trying both the neximage and the toucam as a guide camera in the coming month with an EQ6, so I'll let you know how it goes.
