Chinese 150X1200 achromat refractor with chromacor corrector, mounting rings and finderscope. The chromacor corrector greatly improves the optical performance. I would prefer for it to be picked up in the Sydney, Australia area or I can deliver it by car within the Sydney, Australia and surrounding area. Otherwise it will have to be freighted within Australia. $900. The eyepiece in the picture is not included.

As I wrote, the chromacor greatly improves the optical performance.

Is this a no name brand, or does it have a name?

Synta is the brand, made in China.

As queried - is it a single lens or a doublet and against what measure does it significantly improve optical performance - single lens performance or double lens performance?

Also what is the weight and balance point if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks, Matt

I hope i'm not butting in but the chromacor greatly reduces chromatic aboration mainly in the blue/violet spectrum. If i had a spare $1k i would snap this up.
Here is a spot diagram with (top) without (bottom) a Chromacor.

Matthew the tube weighs about 8kg having had one, it is quite front lens heavy (it's a doublet), balance point is about 35% front front element.
Some people worried about the price should check the chromacor prices, same as a new OTA at Andrews. On CN users have said it cause the scope to perform like a triplet

I have one question for the owner, is it a chroma or I or II?

I've been out of this field for the past 3.5 years and I'm now trying to sell off astronomy equipment that I had before this. I purchased this telescope combination second hand when I was living near Canberra pre-2005 from someone living nearby and I don't know much about the chromacor itself other than what the photograph says:

Hi Bill I have a Saxon eg Synta 150mm f8 Acromat , with a fitted chromacor and the differance between a standard Achromat like ours and an Achro like ours fitted , properly is like spending 5k to 10k on an AP or TAK APO for about 1500 dollars .
I know this as a friend has an AP 152 f8 starfire ( beautiful scope ) and he cant believe the views in mine with the chromacor ..
Check astromart , a member there has been looking for one for a while .
As David U said snap this guys ! these are really good and they are not made any more .
Brian..

Thanks Brian. I'm also advertising on Astromart and I've had offers to buy just the chromacor corrector there but I'd like to sell both the chromacor and the telescope together.
