I started planetary imaging last year with a celestron neximage camera. I got hooked pretty quickly and have since upgraded my camera.
My Neximage camera works fine, but it is wasted just sitting in its box
I would therefore like to offer it to anyone interested in trying planetary astrophotgraphy.I dont want any money for it, but there are 3 rules that I would like anyone interested in the camera to follow.
1. You should be a beginner in planetary astrophotography.
2. You should post some images taken with the camera
3. Once you decide to upgrade or decide that planetary imaging is not for you you must put the camera back on iceinspace for the next person to try.
Lets do this until the camera dies.I will pay for it to be shipped to the first person that is interested, but they must pay for it to be shipped to the second person and so on.......
The camera comes with the capture software, but if you running Windows7 you will have to visit Celestrons website for info about how to get it to work with Windows7.
This is not a gimmick.I have no ties to Celestron. This forum is such a great place to meet and learn about astrophotography and hopefully this will attract some others to experience the thrill of astrophotography for themselves without having to pay for the camera.
Any questions just post.
I would like to offer my services for this project!
I have never imaged before. I have a webcam on order for planetary imaging but it hasn't arrived after 3 weeks. I would happily post any images and pass the camera on when I upgrade. I have a CGEM 925 - which I bought with the idea of imaging.
Application submitted! :)

this is how the beginner astronomical community should run, sharing new experiences and helping each other until such an amateur decides to upgrade to something better. this is a brilliant idea and i hope all the best it doesn't break too soon! also, Grant once you have had a go i wouldn't mind borrowing it off you, perhaps at a CAS meeting - saves on shipping! :)
Sure! I am meaning to join CAS soon. There is a parallel thread I just discovered under "Beginners Equipment". So, I was probably a little slow... :)
Still, great thought and greatly appreciated no matter who uses it!!

Hi, would it work as a guide camera?

Yes. I have used this model of camera successfully on my LXD55 via Guidedog and Ascom. The camera is also very light.

OK.I put the responders from this and beginning equipment posts into a hat and pulled them out in the following order;
1.Erg
2.GEM
3.A23649
So ERG gets it first and then should consider passing it on to GEm and GEm can pass it on to A23649 etc...
I will contact ERG for the address and look forward to seeing some pics soon-I would suggest starting with some lunar images first.
It may take a little while to get to you -It is coming from USA.

Well done Pete.
GEM, I visit Pete regularly down in Orbost, so once he has had his taste etc etc, I can bring it back up to Canberra for you.
Thanks Carl! Very kind and thoughtful! :)
Thanks! You have all brought a nice big smile to my face! What a great community IIS is! :)
Sure is a great community!
Grant, as Sam said we can get you the camera as next user very easily.
I just need a small amount of time with it and then its yours.
Super awesome thx to Carl for being such an altruistic guy. Thank you very much Carl.

Hi Poita Im fairly new to the astronomy obsession and would love to try some planetary imaging on the SW 14 Synscan that is my pride and joy. Have had a couple of go's with a friends image source camera from Canoelands but copped terrible seeing conditions on both attemps so everything was a bit blurry. Unable to spend anymore money on astronomy at the moment lest the words lawyers and divorce get exchaged with my better half. So please let us know if your still keen to share:thanx:

Hi Paula, I just sent Matty my neximage camera (so there are now 2 cameras doing the rounds). Matty, can you send it to Paula when you are done with it?
Cheers, -Pete
