I've been shooting at M27 this week and trying to get some sort of a clean view of the outer halo, but all I can really get is a smudge of it around the target. I think it needs a bigger hammer than I have here to see it :P

2 versions here, both HaO3O3, 5Hrs Ha with 20 and 30 min subs, 3Hrs40Min O3 with 20 and 30 min subs all Binned X1. GSO RC8, QHY9.

No flats on these, there is something wrong with my flats at the moment

The first one is SDmask combined and the second is Sum combined and pushed a bit. Just levels and curves.

I'm sure I can see red Jets coming out each side of it, it's clearer in the Summed version.

This is a wonderful image Robin and far better than you realise it is. You just need a few processing techniques. I sent you a PM about this. Faster scopes, darker skies, higher QE cameras (the KAF8300 is right up there in the latest crop of Kodak sensors though) all help but in your case the biggest single gain will come from a few processing techniques.

The main thing in these faint fuzzies is advanced gradient handling. I have refined a technique from others that works really well.

Congrats on a super image. The data is there.

"If you get the data they will come"

Really bringing the data home now Robin. Excellent result. With flats sorted it will be a stunning image. Well done.

Nice going Robin. Surely you can recreate the light path to get some flats going later? Will be expecting more repros on this - definitely material visible coming out from the centre and shell starting to appear in the summed version.

An amazing shot Robin.

The red jets look cool.

Thanks.

Ross.

Cheers guys, I'll have another shot at flats tonight, I might have left the lights on in the dome last time. They ended up showing rings and artifacts in the images.:confused2:

Here's a repo done by Greg, it's a lot cleaner than mine and he did it on that tiny jpg :thanx:
