I've almost completed my portable 12v setup but wondering if my mount has an internal fuse or whether I should put an inline one in jsut to be safe?

Between the battery and the power output (cig lighter sockets) I'll have a 25amp fuse as the total draw from the batteries is 21amps (laptop, usb hub, dew heaters, mount and battery pack for camera).

Given the mount is the most expensive bit of kit and only draws about 2amps should I err on the side of caution and put a 2.5amp fuse between cig socket and mount?

thanks guys

lighter plugs have a fuse in them

Yep just put what you want but usually its a 5A in there

The decent ones with an led light do. The really cheap lightweight ones are worth avoiding for that very reason.

In general yes, but be mindful of the gauge of the actual wires used - as they are rated to some max voltage/current load depending on their diameter etc - but in your case that you're using for viz; 2.5amps max, it looks alright to go

In other words if the wires are say rated for 10A max then you wouldn't want to put in a 15A fuse as this will mean that the wires themselves will act as the "fuse" so to speak in case of current overload situations

HTH
