Hi Guys
Another shot from the Coona new moon weekend and this time, I chose a cluster shot more so because I was unguided than anything else.
The Jewel Box I think is one of those clusters that deserves long focal length or a super wide field that captures the Crux as well.
Still,I hope you enjoy It.
Object: NGC 4755

Mount: GPDX/SS2k
Exposures: Lum: 30 min,RGB(2x2binned) 15min each(all subs 1 minute)

Superb field!:thumbsup::thumbsup: You've picked up that red neb in the coalsack on the left. I have a shot nearly framed the same way here (https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=6930d3ad12d5044c&ref=1&id=6930D3AD12D5044C%21863&sff=1#cid=6930D3AD12D5044C&id=6930D3AD12D5044C%21968).

I agree, plenty of wow there. Even just got the carbon star next to Mimosa in the frame? Plus a little bit of red fluff out at 8:30.
Nice.

Very very nice Louie! Not easy to imagine the jewel cluster this time of the year, it gets very low quite early.
Nice place coona, isn't it? ;)

Hi Louie,
A fantastic photo.
I love all the colours and detail.......magic!
Thanks.
Ross.
Impressive FoV Louie. Enjoyed the framing, perhaps not intentional but it works well given you also picked up the faint and small emission neb RCW71. Colours look spot on. Great work.

Hehe, next time you get there give my lens a dusting, please ;)
This one was much better than last year, unfortunately had lots of issues with my setup and lost lots of nights on test or taking unusable frames :mad2:
I understand however that weather got worse in Australia on recent years, thanks to el nino or la nina..

I commented on this image before but just wanted to add that this is really a super image. I have imaged the Jewel Box many times and I have never gotten one I was happy with.
Your image has captured it extremely well.
Widefield is obviously the way to go with it.

Ah lovely work Louie. I really like the way the coal sack is in the corner and then the cluster right in the center. The coal sack has lots of lovely smooth knots too. Processing is really nice. Fantastic image. Great stuff.
