M20 from Warrumbungle Observatory

It has been a while since I have posted an image. This is mainly due to the arrival of the cloudy season in Thailand. To get my fix I have manged to find a remote setup to share with a couple of other guys. We are not fully operational yet and have been ironing out a few small problems.

The site is at Peter Starr's Warrumbungle Observatory. There are some details in my signature.

Here is one of my first photos I have done during the testing phase. It took 15 two minute unguided exposures in each of RBG. I have to throw a few away due to various issues.

Any ideas on the cause of the reflection (?) on the brighter stars? It is mainly with the blue filter. I can not see the same on images using the Lum filter so maybe an issue with the filter?

Overall a nice image. A tad green bias.

What was the setup?

If reflections are only in the blue filter then I suspect the filters lack a good antireflection coating.

Nice work Rob....my first views of Saturn and Jupiter were from the Warrumbungles....I was hooked for life.

Hi Greg,
they are SBIG filters which have now been removed and cleaned. This has not removed the problem. We are now investigating if the WO FF IV might be causing the issue. The other details of the setup are in my signature.

Making good progress Rob. The set up of the remote observatory will assist. More data would go along way here. Looking forward to seeing more of your images as the set up becomes ratified.

I couldn't understand how you thought it was a tad green when I first read this. However, I got home yesterday and it appears that I need to adjust the display on the new laptop that I have. The attached image is closer to how it should have appeared. I hope this is an improvement on other peoples' monitors!!??

looks like a very neutral background to me now Rob.. no colour cast at all.
