G'Day All,
After having no reply to this thread I sat down and had a good look at how I could fix it .I came up with using a thin strip of metal from a coke can and wedge between the side of the cable and the fitting ,all are very tight and no slop in the cable and all are working.
The cable I got from Dick Smith and like most cable made in China they are made to Chinese measurement close enough is good enough and don't worry about the slop

Hi Ian, just read your thread.
I have the same problem with my DSI II. My trick is to hook a rubberband around the cable and then run it around the body of the camera, it works a treat and holds the cable very snugly.

G'Day Ric,
I was using that method with the cable that came with the camera but I got a longer cable which was not so tight as the original . But what I did above is working very well
Ian C
No worries Ian
Glad to hear it's working well.
Cheers
