Took these basic images of the Milky Way at around midnight last night,1st August 2011.
I am selling my 10-22 mm lens,so thought these images will help with the sale,
since it is the last time I will ever use it for wide field astro work,I thought I'd post them here.I know they are only basic images, and not of the standard usually seen here.but I was fairly pleased, and it was good to part with the lens on a high light.
Hope these get some sort of feed back.

Thanks Marc-nice to get a view point of an advanced astrophotograper.
I'll get either one or two printed out in a 8 by 10 inch size,or larger.
Nothing bets seeing the milky way with our own eyes!it was great to finally
spend a few hour last night under the stars.
cheers

I recon a lot of people would be ecstatic to have them as their 'basic images'. Nice work!

sane but ten seconds less,I'll find the details on the third if you like.
camera on a Vixen GP mount in the garden,I have little stumps in the ground
with groves in them,so the tripod legs sit firmly in them, and its PA.I have a dovetail with manfrotto 484 CR ball head the camera is attached to.I zoomed to 22 mm had AF on took an image of a far way tree, switch to MF,put dew heaters on and cable release.Ready to go then.
Channel 9 WIN NEWS on the Darling Downs, just featured image two in their
weather section, got close to 30 seconds exposure and intro!.So that was great to have a astro image on T.V:cool:

Hi Chris,
So wide, so sharp, so much detail.
Wide is the way to go.
Thanks.
Ross.

Thanks Ross-yes really surprised the sharpness that comes from this lens,I since found out, that the PA was not quite spot on,might be even able to get a better image, with spot on PA.Might be a while before I get a chance to get back outside, the weather is not good-again!
Cheers Chris
Lovely stuff Chris pin point crisp and clean, well done, definitely one for the wall.
