I'll be following this mission with interest.

The Juno mission to Jupiter launches this Friday, 5th August and is expected to arrive at Jupiter in 2016.

From the mission website (http://juno.wisc.edu/mission.html):

Some more great info on the NASA page:
Juno Mission on NASA (http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/juno/main/index.html)

It'll orbit Jupiter 33 times (approx 1 year) and end the mission by slamming into Jupiter.

Very cool!

Will be interesting to watch this one. 1 year's mission....if any of NASA's previous efforts are anything to go by, unless budget cuts, etc, curtail the mission to the specified 33 orbits, it'll probably still be sending back data in 10 years time:)

It would be an awful waste slamming it, Cassini has got some nice images even after its time around Saturn.
