My first attempt at star trails. Goal was just to get my scope and computer tent (bottom left) and the South Celestial Pole. Focus and exposure was a bit of a guess after a bit of a chat with Mike (Sharnbrook). Very happy with the way it turned out. Thanks Mike. This was as many exposures as I got before dew set in. Next time might try a dew heater for my lens.

Also having a play with a quick timelapse, but not sure how that'll turn out.

An excellent image Troy, I’d be very chuffed with that result for a first attempt. Wow – look at all those red lights and computer screens glowing in the dark, with the light dome of Brisbane on the horizon.:eyepop:

Work commitments prevented me attending this year, I hope everyone had a ball; it looks like the weather held up?:)

Cheers

Nice shot - good to see astrofest was humming and generating more light pollution than Las Vegas!!!

Thanks all. The red is deceptive with such long exposures, hey. This was about 28x5min exposures so it must add up.

looks like you caught the carnival atmosphere very well, with the big ferris wheel in the background!,well done.

My interest in astronomy is less than what it use to be,so I gave astrofest a miss this year-hope to catch up with you,Troy on s field trip some day.

Hah, back in 1997, my first Qld Astrofest, there was only one PC on the paddock belonging to Michael Horn….how times are a changing!:)

The visual observers used to wear red tinted goggles when they came into the kitchen/dining room area for their late night brews – in those days they were real astronomers; real men, uncompromising eyeballers that didn’t need poncy woncy cameras! LOL!;):P

Cheers

That's a splendid image Troy. It really did catch the atmosphere of this years camp.
I did a long exposure of the imaging field last night, so different to your shot.
