Jupiter from 18/19th Feb

Hi

After being enthralled by the good seeing whilst imaging Saturn the Moon, I remembered to point the C9.25 at Jupiter before it got too light. No GRS or moons or shadow transits……just plain old Jove, plus a few "onions".

I see you captured at 10fps @ 1/25th in KCCDTools?

Are you able to shoot at 10th or 15th of a sec?

The reason I ask ... is I can't get it to capture any slower than 1/25th. I asked this question in another post, but haven't resolved tehe prob. Sorry to bring it up here, but I'm keen to get to the bottom of this little glitch and I think it is pertinent to your post. I think?

Can you increase the image scale with a 4x? Or did the seeing not hold up?

Hi Matt

Using K3CCDTools, I get the same user interface for the "Camera" and "Image" setting tabs as I do with the native Philips software. So, I am still limited to 1/25 sec with K3CCDTools. I believe that some webcam owners modify their webcams so that they become long exposure capable. Not sure how long they can expose for, or what the mod involves.

All I have is the x5 Powermate and when I inserted it and tried a star test to see what the diffraction rings were like, the image went to mush. Just too much power for 9.25 inches of glass methinks. I'll have to wait until Santa brings me a C11 or a C14, many moons from now!

Dennis, the seeing must have been fantastic again, the fine detail here is amazing. I'd say up to the same standard as your previous best, though perhaps lacking just a little in depth of colour.

That's funning that you can't get 1/10s exposures. I wonder if it's just the neximage that can do this then as I've never modified it and it has always been able to do it?

That's the really confusing part. Both Dennis and I ARE using a NexImage!!!!

So how are you able (also using a NexImage) to get anything longer than 1/25th of a sec using the K3CCDTools interface when we can't???:confused:

I can get 1/15th and 1/10th etc when using the AMCap software that comes with the camera but it's not so handy. You don't get exact numerical readings for brightness, gain, gamma etc

There are other drawbacks too, but I've forgotten what they are since it's been a while since using it.

Way too many late nights imaging are playing tricks with your memory. I only have a ToUcam, not a NexImage.

pretty sure they're the same thing anyway (from a chip point of view), just in different casings ...

But I've since solved the K3CCDTools issue. Or 1ponders has, to be precise.
