It has always intrigued me the shots of flowing water so I wanted to have a go myself. Really an experiment that really needs fast flowing water to get the effect as I found.

Each of the shot at 100ISO and F22, these are the lowest settings i could possibly get on the camera. The single images using the standard 18-55mm lens while the mosaics are at 300mm.

High resolution images start here - http://www.waelect.com.au/mswhin63/Terrestrial/Rivers,%20Lakes,%20Creeks/index.html#IMG_2079.JPG

Any suggestions for improvements would be greatly appreciated.

There is some fantastic light going on in the mosaic image.

Shooting landscapes/waterscapes during daylight hours is typically a recipe for disaster. They really need to be shot at dawn or dusk to make them look flattering. In order to capture the flowing water effect, you need exposures longer than about a second or so.

Have a look at my previous posts in this forum; I give complete image capture details that you can try for yourself.

If you could perhaps turn the white non-image portions to black in your mosaic image, you would do so much to improve the ability to view it and appreciate details so much more.

Also, be careful with f/22; lens diffraction softening effects usually kick in apertures smaller than about f/16, or so. The overall effect is that it will soften your image.

Thanks H, took a bit of processing to get the right lighting, the original images were a bit wishy washy. I had the camera set to the extremes because I couldn't get the exposure any less than 1/20 second.
I was wondering why my shots didn't have the full effect, I will look into going to the falls again maybe this evening although the platform is not very tripod friendly and sure will be worse when I can't align it when getting dark.

It is also hard to find decent locations around Perth but is a great excuse to get out of the house while the weather is a bit poor.

Wonderful example of yours - http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/attachment_browse.php?a=90661

Great advise
