M27 mapped

I saw my previous M27 on my calibrated monitor out here at leyburn and I give up - I cant blend nb with RGB - i'll live with it. So I mapped it in SHO and gave it a twist to get away from the slime green. Anyway this is the result. Again happy with the detail.

Planewave 17 and STL 11k, SHO 90, 90, 90 with a bit of extra blending.

I might put it on a tie died T shirt and hang out on Venice Beach

Thats just amazing Mark, I like the smooth silky feel. Lots of detail and excellent colour balance and yes, a 3d effect that pops out.

Thanks guys - much happier now I am not trying to achieve something approaching Real colour.

I have to thank our new friend Mr Crawford. He made throw away comment to me during the week he was here about using the channel mixer in PS to achieve your palette and that led to a eureka moment - So that's how they do it says Mark slapping his forehead. So it was just a matter of selecting a palette as a matter of taste and while I'm not trying to emulate Tom Davis I have always been impressed by his blue dominant mapped images - so I settled on this. Still a bit clipped but I will work on that with some more data - I have the outer shell in the OIII subs.

DOF was thanks to Kens tutorials as well - selectively sharp in the foreground and slight blurring in the background.

Thanks for the comments and if any other beginners want a heads up on pallette management away from slime green I am more than happy to share uninformed and probably incorrect information.

Nah mate rental - I didnt go through it all as I idemtified it my previous post with the RGB rubbish. It is GRAS 7 in Spain. I've got the STL11k covered but it is hanging off a 5 inch AP not a scope like this. After the trouble I am in for buying the Sirius Observatory at the AAIC I think my Planewave is a long way off - laugh.

Bored and poured the pier and plinth on the weekend and going out next weekend to pour the slab (isolated from the plinth) so hopefully I will be setting the dome up in a couple of weeks. When the camera gets back i can fire up my own gear again.

Are you putting the dome up free standing beside your existing ROR?? I thought you said you were putting the dome roof on top of the ROR structure?

Hey that is a really nice result! Blending in RGB into narrowband can be tricky but rewarding. You can use the RGB as gap filler as well as for star color recovery.

Congrats on the new Dome - don't forgot to add a way to vent the air nicely around the sides of the dome. Take a look at how the WIYN dome construction with the garage door sides and ventalation around the pier makes the telescope really perform.

David the dome is going between the ROR and the gate giving me a northern horizon I dont have now. I was going to just put the dome on the shed but my kids think i am rich so I decided to spend a bit more of their inheritance on the whiole dome - laugh

Thanks Ken - The detail and DOF are entirely due to your tutorials - I know David Trapp (our newest Leyburn Observatory owner) is using them as well so your trip here wasnt wasted mate. I am having some curved aluminium mountings made to suit the curve of the observatory base (like a little awning) to put a fan on each side. I have also ordered a solar powered exhaust fan for the roof to assist in removing both hot air and and condensation.

The biggest problem is stopping processing - I have 2 newer versions of the image now (much better background RGB stars and more outer shell nebulosity) but I will wait for a while as I want to have a another play with the image tonight.
