From the new moon night a couple of weeks back. A challenging night with clouds coming and going...
Tak FSQ-106ED scope on AP900 and QHY-12 camera. 9 x 10 minute exposures, a couple made unusable by clouds. Processed in Maxim and PixInsight to the best of my currently limited ability.
Cheers,
Rick.
Great work Rick. Neb details look good.
Only critique is that jpg compression is rather high leaving artefacts, so not doing you any favours in displaying your work. Perhaps consider uploading images to a web site.
Keep them coming

Thanks, Jase. I hadn't got around to uploading a copy, but I have now: http://rickstevenson.smugmug.com/Astro-Photography/2011-07/i-FPwHvkt/0/X3/NGC6334-2-XL.jpg (http://rickstevenson.smugmug.com/Astro-Photography/2011-07/i-FPwHvkt/0/XL/NGC6334-2-XL.jpg)

Thanks, JJJ! I've had a couple of early nights and I'm feeling pretty good. Unfortunately, that's not helping me find time for processing images
Great shot Rick. Looks like all those hours were well spent in the end. I've been looking forward to seeing this one.

I see all of these as noisy rick. Is it my crappy monitor? Grab the free copy of neat image and see what that does. What is your image scale with that setup? Under 1 arc/sec?

Thanks, Rob!
Robin: I did a bit of noise reduction but only a light touch. I'll give neat image a go and see if it is an improvement. Image scale is about 2"/pixel.

2 arc sec/pixel? That is quite a bit higher than I use rick. Crank up that RC10 mate :D

Thanks, Doug, Marc, Ross & Geoff! It takes a while to get a feel for what works and what doesn't. I'm sure I have a long way to go, but it's nice to take a few steps in the right direction.
Cheers,
Rick.

Here's a rendition of the Prawn nebula from the same night. I only got 4 x 10 mins exposures on this one before the clouds and fog closed in...
