Hello,

I am new to this website and to astrophotography. I thought I would share one of my first proper tries at a deep sky target with my new equipment up and running.

25 of June 2011
Canon EOS 1000D
Baader Coma Corrector
10 inch (25cm) F/4 Newtonian Reflector Telescope
NEQ6 PRO Computerised Goto Mount
Orion 80mm ShortTube Guide Scope
Synguider Autoguider
20 X 60 seconds exposures (20 minutes total exposure time)
ISO 800
Images stacked and alligned in Deep Sky Stacker
Final processing in Photoshop Elements 8.0

Please feel free to tell me if you have any comments, queries, suggestions/advice, criticisms. I am here to learn.

Very nice Greg, The DSLR certainly highlights the OIII in the core of the nebula very well. I must shoot this one in Narrow band and see what comes out of it.
My only suggestion would be to use longer exposures. Most of these object benifit hugely with longer exposures.

Great stuff.

As per what Doug said, Greg. If your guiding is good, try for some 5 minute exposures. 20 of them stacked would be ace:) The difference you'll see will be substantial.

Thank you very much for the welcome, feedback and advice Carl and Doug.
:-) Being my first try with the autoguider running I wasn't sure how long I could go. On my next target, the Eta Carina Nebula I went to 2 min exposures and on my next, the Triffid Nebula, I got up to 4 min exposures. I'll probably post those ones one day, to see what you wonderful people think of them Thanks again. Clear skies to you both (I've had cloud and rain for the last two weeks)
