Does anyone know how to lock off the altitude adjuster on an em-200 mount?

I would have thought the knob on the side of the mount would do it but all that does is tighten itself up as well as throwing my adjustment off. The rear adjustment knob can still turn and it turns so easily it often gets knocked by accident.

I was thinking of unscrewing the rear knob and putting a lock nut on there?

Yes Robin know what you mean I just keep the side knob reasonably tight now and adjust the lat, on the EM-400 it does have a lock nut so probably a good idea for the 200

Hi Robin

My experience with the so-called “Altitude Lock” is that it acts more like a clutch and not a lock, so no matter how hard you tighten it, you can still cause the altitude to change by using the altitude adjuster.

I also find there is a little backlash in the Azimuth adjustment knobs, although I have got used to this and can predict the behaviour as I get closer to Sigma Octans, overshooting much less frequently now.:)

Cheers

Cheers guys, I might get on the hunt for some sort of wing nut affair to use as a lock nut.

You don't get these problems with the good old EQ6.
You need a set of large monkey grips to change that one :)
