Anyone else see a 4 second meteor burn in ESE sky last night about 10.30-11pm local? We saw it from near Mannum SA

Yes!!!! Massive meteor at 23:24 EST, 23rd July. It was about one hand span towards SCP from Achernar. I was writing in my log book when I saw a flash reflected on the page that was way brigther than the torch I was using. I thought it was a car headlight reflected off the window, but my backyard shouldn't get any light in it at all. I glanced up and saw the afterglow of a massive meteor. It lasted for ages before fading. It was orange and was headed north-south. I have never seen a flash like that one.... and I only saw the reflection of it. Amazing!!
I am in Canberra - so if it was the same one - it was a big one... :)

Hi Guys,
I saw it too, from my back garden in Bungendore (just up the road from Canberra). I was facing north putting an eyepiece in the telescope (looking at the Helix Nebula) and the whole place flashed as if a big camera had gone off. I turned around and saw the glowing trail fade out over several seconds.
Must have been very bright, but as I didn't see the actual flare I couldn't say how bright it was.
So if it was the same meteor, are we the only three who were out observing on sat night????

Too cloudy with smoke here to observe. Controlled burning+no wind= No observing.
