Saturn 18th Feb 2006 - my best yet

Well, what a night - fabulous, no...Outrageous.. seeing for long spells. Here is a Saturn that I just punched through Registax. No other processing apart from Wavelets.

Details to follow once I've packed up my gear and had some brekkie. I'm expecting a rush of images from IIS members today, I'm sure many were out enjoying the seeing.

Golly gosh Dennis, I may not know much about Astrophotography yet but that is one sharp Saturn pic :scared2::prey2:. The best I have seen here in my short time. Keep it up and can't wait to see what the others caught lastnight.

was out enjoying sucker holes and a jetstream, but that disaapointment has been smashed with a 100% cd, the storm.

geez, please please please go softly softly with the processing of this one as it has heaps of potential.

roughly how long do you capture for, saturn rotates in 10 hrs like jupiter and with that storm, it would be great to get a blown up look if is not blurred. it looks great on this one though!

I initially thought the white spot was an imaging artifact so I just processed another couple as follows:

I used 10fps for 210 seconds, giving me 2100 frames.

Here are the 3 in chronological order and it does look like a storm on Saturn. Amazing to see the rotation in just 1 hour.

Wish we had Bris-Vegas seeing down here.

I captured a few Saturn and Jupiter avi's last night but they've produced very average results.

Also, too much dew by the time I started capture. Will have to invest in some form of heater dew control beyond my dewshield.

I did manage to catch the storm, but nowhere near as good as yours. Again, well done.
