NGC6188 14.5 hour mosaic

I took this one a while ago but one panel had considerably less exposure than the other. I took more images a while ago and only just now caught up with the processing.

2 panel mosaic, HaLRGB 14.5 hours total.

CDK17, Proline 16803, Paramount ME.

Thanks Marc. After the AAIC I decided to lift the bar on my images and go for longer/deeper versions of everything. This was taken before it but it is quite a long exposure.

It was a lesson in making sure each panel has the same exposure time for me. Perhaps there are times when you can get away with different exposure times but this wasn't one of them.

Another problem with mosaics with long focal length is different seeing levels on different nights.

It all makes mosaics just that much harder to do.

Photoshop CS4 and above make mosaics though relatively easy. Just process each panel the same way and let Photoshop stitch it then perhaps a few stuble tweaks - especially correcting any gradients.

This was not done with luminance then RGB separately but rather 2 images processed the same way then stitched. It may not be a good way for a large panel mosaic though and I'll use the luminance layer as one mosaic then match the rgb to it approach.

A few gradient removal techniques will help a lot. There are several.
