I had GREAT fun tonight... lugged the scope out, real nice skies..

Saw some great clusters, billions of stars! :o

Eta Carina was amazing... Orion neb was great.

Saturn looked real good with beehive cluster!

Also saw moon, couldn't find sombrero galaxy though.

I have to go.

Night!

Well done Charley. Have you seen 47 Tuc with that scope yet? It should look fantastic.

Don't worry, you'll find it (it's easier than the galaxies). If not, there'll be plenty of other delights. Have you got some sort of planisphere or star charts (or star charting software)? Because if you haven't you can download some charts suitable for the southern hemisphere. Else you'll find one in an astro magazine.

Anyway, happy hunting,

Brian.

Sounds like you had a great session there Charlie :) And yes you have to see 47 Tuc before it gets lower. Currently you have to start early to get good views. But if you stay up late you can bag Omega Centauri as well. That is the granddaddy of all globulars. I like the views best at medium mags since high mags make it look more like an open cluster....
