planetary nebulae

If you want to view planetary nebulae the following link gives images for all the 94 NGC PN and two IC PN.

https://picasaweb.google.com/dunlop1...m95-XF98SCggE# (https://picasaweb.google.com/dunlop1826/NGCPlanetaryNebulae?authkey=Gv1sRgC Jm95-XF98SCggE#)

The field size is always 14 arcmin, with one exception the Helix Nebula NGC 7293. This makes it easy to compare PN sizes.

These PN are north of dec +50: M97, N40, N1501, N6543, N7008, N7076, N7139 and N7354.
They are difficult to see from Australia and NZ.

I compiled these 97 images using http://www.wikisky.org/

Thanks for the link.

When observing, I usually don't look at images since it changes my expectations. If I look at a nice image I am usually then disappointed by a faint smudge!
Having said that, this link will be useful after observing to check I had the right idea when looking at the object. :)

Did the NGCIC project website go off line a while ago and I thought these guys collaborating together at one stage?

Regards,
Stephen

The NGCIC website went offline and the NGCIC project replaced it.
There seems to be some friction between a couple of people.

Ah, thanks Glen  I haven't looked at the "new" site too closely, but on the surface there appears to be no reduction in quality or data! A fabulous resource.

The binos from the avatar are gone, I see, Glen!

This last link is particularly useful for me, as it gives me a nice selection of sketching targets, all bundled up neatly.

Cheers.
