Cat Paws/War & Peace HaRGB widefield

This is the cat paws area with the 200mm Lens again. The last from the series. I blended some Ha data I had shot previously with a 100mm lens to bring out a little more details in the red nebs.

Bigger fields here (http://www.astropic.net/astro/NGC6334_200mm_f.jpg) [4MB]. Again heaps of clusters around and loads and loads of stars.

The red contrasts nicely with the rich star fields.

Rich star colours Marc. For 200mm however I was expecting to see more structure in the nebulae. What's the sampling of this set up?

Not sure if I understand your logic in blending in data from a shorter focal length. Normally one would do the opposite. Perhaps the reason for the lack of detail.

Hi Jase! Where have you been? Those two nebulae are very red. For some reason my red channel is very bad with this lens and using an OSC there's not much I can do about it. So I blended the sharper Ha into it. Although it helped a bit it's still not up to it. The image scale is about 8 arc sec per pixel and the field is 6.7 x 4.5 degrees.

Yeah I couldn't do much with the nebs but the overall field's interesting. As long as you don't look at the nebs. :P

Hi Marc. Work has kept me away for a while. In between busy periods at the moment so I've come up for fresh air. Indeed they are due to interstellar reddening caused by dust in the area. Don't think the Ha blend has done much for you on this image. Rather undersampled to boot - not sure if the combo is working for you. Will check out some of your other images.

Thanks mate. This was my first go with that Lens at full aperture. I have learnt a few things since then and will have another go with proper UV/IR cut filters and f-stop masks.
