Rho widefield RGB

Found another 2 subs that slightly ovelapped. 30x2min in two panels. Same lens - same night. I was trying to get the other neb next to Rho in the field which I got a little bit in the bottom right of the field. So that might be one for the 50mm or 100mm lens in one shot.

There's a bigger one here (http://www.astropic.net/astro/rho_200mm_f.jpg) [3MB]. Little noisy in the core. Rho need 5min subs at least not two. :question:

Yeah I think Rho needs 10min subs minimum. The blue stuff is fairly faint. and always noisy somehow. Maybe because you have to push the data harder to show the colors and it brings up the noise if the signal's too weak. That's why I want to try it with a shorter FL and hopefully I get better light.

Things I would do to improve it more would be put a UV/IR block filter in the imaging train & stop the lens a little more ( ok I have a thing for needle like stars :). )

Nice one Marc, unusual framing BTW. I would try to increase a bit the color saturation if possible...

Thanks Peter. :thumbsup: Yeah - lesson learnt. I now have a 2" baader UV/IR cut, a 2" Baader fringe killer and a step down ring from 52mm to 49mm then 49mm to 42mm. Just waiting for clears skies and no moon :) We all love needle stars. I crave for those too. One day when I get and FSQ.


Thanks Marco. :thumbsup: TBH I wasn't sure what to expect. I centered the shot on Antares and I guess I was expecting a bigger field. By then I offset the shot by 2/3 of a field and again expected to capture that other nebula. I always get caught out with Ophiuchus. It's huge. I need to go back with a 100mm max maybe 50mm. On my todo list. :)

You recon we are in different dimensions, well man you are right, you are in a prolific imaging dimension... and I am not :lol: :sadeyes:

I really like this view mate, in the standard size it loads at the overall look has depth and is golden and dark at the same time, a nice change from the heavier saturation approach (not that that is a bad approach or anything).

The roughness is more obvious when the image is enlarged though but who cares, it's an image and the way you are imaging these days you give Greg a run for his money :)

I like the colors not too saturated too but I never got a Rho that I'm happy with. Always noisy in the blues. I'll try again. Haven't you heard? Rho is the new M8 ;)
