Hi all!

I recently bought a DBK41 and really happy with it. such a neat little unit and its performance is quite good.

Anyway, here is my first real attempt in using the DBK.

- Meade 5000 ED80mm + 2x Powermate (FL 960mm)
- 600 frames each
- Stacked in Registax version 6 (v6 is so different to V5.x)
- Total of 9 images in a mosaic and "stitched" in CS4 via layers. My dodgey PS skills resulted in me not quite knowing how to fade the edges of each layer to avoid sharp transitions.

Struggling to get a clear night over here so last night was an opportunity and a break from my deeper sky ventures for now until the moon clears.

Thanks for looking.

First night of clear skies in a long time and i did my back in. Lovely picture, so sharp.

Amazing how well the 80mm can work especially with the right camera.

Thanks Malcolm. Yes, a good triplet does perform nicely.

Glad you like your DBK as well Giuseppe. I will be turning to the planets soon too. Cheers.

Thanks very much John. I finally took your advice and got the DBK as I had pushed my 40D's video to its limits.

Thanks Grahame. It was actually good to get back to imaging the moon after trying to climb that steep DSO ladder. :)

Super sharp. Love it! Select the 4 layers then go to Edit>Auto-Blend Layers. Easy peasy.

Nice work Darrin. Great contrast and hardly any blown areas. I reckon you have got that sorted. Crisp as well. Well done.

Cheers, thanks Marc! Will give that a go.

Thanks mate. The DBK is such a wonderful unit to work with and it's solid yet not too heavy. I really like the quality of the unit.

Thanks Paul. Waiting for the moon to clear to give your old 40D a run!

Thanks Greg! I am certainly enjoying the challenges each equipment variation throws at me.

I'm glad the image has come out good enough to get this feedback. Thank you very much and it is certainly a pleasure to share as just about all my knowledge gained has been from IIS.

Thanks very much Mario!!!

You won't be dissappointed!

Cheers,

Thanks Brad. Just keep experimenting and do some research. That's all I did. Registax 6 is definitely recommended after this outcome.

Thanks Lester. Exposure was my greatest concern as it is too easy to think your image is too dim when it isn't.

Thanks Ric. Having the moon almost overhead helped too!

Cheers,
Darrin...
